Margaret Orr

Margaret Orr was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Leonard and Marie Robinson. She was the fourth of ten children, and from an early age she carried herself with strength, grace, wisdom, and a spirit of determination that would remain with her throughout her life. Margaret was a devoted wife to Floyd Orr, and she loved her husband well. She made sure he was cared for, his clothes were pressed, and everything was in order. She was a dedicated mother who cherished every opportunity to spend time with her children, pouring truth, love, and wisdom into their lives. She wanted the very best for her family and was always willing to speak honestly, guide gently, and love unconditionally. She took great pride in her home and in serving others. Everyone loved coming to Margaret’s house because they knew they would be welcomed with a beautifully set table and a warm, delicious meal. She never served on paper plates, because she believed hospitality should be done with excellence and care. Her kitchen was famous for pinto beans, fried chicken, collard greens, cornbread, and sweet tea — meals that gave people a true culinary experience, even without culinary school. Her home was a place of order, warmth, and truth. She kept things in place, expected others to carry themselves well, and lovingly let you know when she saw that you were capable of doing better. Margaret was a devoted employee, coworker, friend, and neighbor, and she treated people with respect wherever she went. She loved her sisters-in-law, her family in Alabama, and traveling with her husband to attend every family reunion. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Marie Robinson; her sisters, Helen Robinson, Loreen Richardson, and Velva Robinson; and her great-granddaughter, Kya West. She leaves to cherish her loving and devoted husband, Floyd Orr; her sons, Aaron (Sharon) Orr and Randy Orr (Anita); and her daughter, Belinda (Barry) Simpson. She is also survived by her siblings, Dean Toney, Juanita Turner, Edna Bragg, Loretta Hawkins, and Leonard Robinson. Additionally, she leaves behind a cherished circle of grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and a host of devoted cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Margaret Orr's life was a beautiful example of God's grace, His mercy, love and strength. She fought the good fight, she finished the race, and she kept the faith. Margaret Orr leaves behind a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire and guide her family for generations to come. Margaret will lie-in-state on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 9-11 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon in the Chapel with Pastor Richard Smith as the Eulogist.
