Jenifer Claudine Martineau

Jenifer Claudine Martineau, 50, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2026, in a local hospital. She was born on October 18, 1975, to Florencia A. Martineau and Fermin Brown in Colon, Republic of Panama. She resided there until age 3, until she and her family moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was a previous member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she was baptized under Dr. William H. Ryan, Jr. Jenifer sang in the choir and was actively involved in the Youth Ministry. Later, she joined the Orchard Park Seventh Day Adventist Church. Jenifer was a 1995 graduate of Brainerd High school where she participated in R.O.T.C. After high school, Jenifer became a certified nursing assistant. She was formerly employed at the Hamilton County Nursing Home (otherwise known as Standifer Place). Jenifer had a radiant smile and loved people. She had a welcoming spirit and never met a stranger. She was always giving to others. Jenifer would call relatives to read scriptures to them and pray for them. She praised God in the midst of her circumstances. Jenifer was preceded in death by her stepfather, Andre Flippin; aunt, Delcia Brown; grandparents, Alred and Fladel Martineau, Charles G. and Myrtle Brown; and great-uncle, Woody Malcom. Those left to cherish her memories include her loving and devoted mother, Florencia H. Martineau; brothers, Jamelle D. Flippin and Luis Cox; sister, April S. Brown; sister-in-law, Shakelya McClain Flippin; nephew, Manolo Flippin; niece, Mamita Flippin; aunts, Elvia Brown Forney of Texas, Vielca Brown of Norwich, CT, Maria Martineau, Patricia Martineau, and Alfredo Martineau, all of Colon Republic of Panama; uncles, Tony Brown of San Diego, CA, Carlos Martineau, Ricardo Martineau, and Guillermo Grant, all of Colon Republic of Panama; devoted cousins, Greg and Pearl Murray; godmother, Gloria Ricketts; best friend, Freda Morris; other nieces and nephews, a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins in Colon Republic of Panama and the United States, and other relatives and friends. Jenifer will lie-in-state on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon in the Chapel with Pastor Ronald B. Cook, Sr. as the Eulogist. Burial in Highland Memorial Gardens.
