Deborah Pride

Deborah Pride, 66, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in a local hospital. She was the oldest daughter of her beloved parents, Fred and Leontine Douglas as well as, the wife to Frederick Pride, Sr., for more than 40 years, who she loved dearly. She was also the proud mother of Frederick Jr. and Leontine Pride. She was not limited to just her immediate family, but was a woman that never met a stranger and the lady that was always willing to give a helping hand to those that are in need. There were a lot of branches that extended from the tree of Deborah Pride, such as servitude, grace, hospitality, and wisdom just to name a few. Not only did she serve whole heartily in whatever she put her hands to, but served with an aim to uplift, please, and execute. Deborah focused mainly on serving the community at large, no matter what a person’s demographics or gender. She was a lady of quality, equality, and harmony. Deborah’s work history speaks for itself. She was employed at The Orange Grove Center. This was a facility targeted to those with special needs. She worked with them diligently to make them feel as normal as she possibly could while ensuring they were able to do a job well done. She also cared for clients who were in the group homes, visiting them, uplifting them, and servicing them. Deborah would comb, wash, cut and style their hair and teach them the importance of good maintenance towards themselves. For years she has cared for the elderly, both at home and in-patient care. She was a substance abuse counselor for youth and adults who felt there was not a better way and a liaison to help break the chains and heal the wounds of those who felt like there was no hope after a fresh start. Also, Deborah Pride was a licensed cosmetologist. Not only did she please, uplift and execute, but completed the necessary courses to obtain her relevance and it is her experience over the years that has given her expertise in the craft. Last, but not least, Deborah was a devoted member of Holy Temple Church of God in Christ. At Holy Temple, she served in the choir, in the Hospitality Department, and in the Usher Department. She was the President of the Outreach Ministry “Hungry you feed me”. Above all, Deborah was saved, sanctified, and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. The Consolers said it best, “May the Work I’ve Done Speak For Me” and “May the Life that I lived Speak For Me.” Deborah would like to put on record that it has been truly an honor and privilege to have lived a life of being a helping hand. She was preceded in death by her brother, Archie Lee Douglas, and her sister, Mary Davis. Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Frederick Pride Sr.; son, Frederick (Camille) Pride, Jr., daughter, Leontine Pride; parents, Fred and Leontine Douglas; sisters, Karen (George) Clay and Sharen (Carl) Brown; brothers, Alfred (Dorothy) Johnson and Fredrick (Linda) Douglas, along with a host of other relatives and friends. Deborah will lie-in-state on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 12:30-5:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 1 p.m. at New Holy Temple Cathedral COGIC Church with Pastor Paul Bonner, Jr. as the Eulogist. Burial will be Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
