David Deonte' Shropshire

David Deonte' Shropshire was born on June 24, 1995, to Eric “Sweet Pea” Shropshire and DeNessa Smith. On August 7, 2026, David departed this life, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. David was a caring, loving, and giving person throughout his life. He was the type of person who would give you his last or take the shirt off his back if you needed it. David had a fun-loving spirit and enjoyed making people laugh. He loved to cut up, joke around, and spend time with his siblings and friends. Over the years, he enjoyed playing sports, especially football, which he played throughout middle and high school. If you knew David, you could often find him dancing, laughing, and smiling that infectious smile that could light up a room. Above all, David loved the Lord. He was raised in the church and accepted God and the Christian faith at an early age. His faith was an important part of who he was and remained a part of his life. David graduated from Tyner High School in 2013. He briefly attended Chattanooga State Community College before deciding to pursue his passion for welding. He attended Tulsa Welding School in Jacksonville, Florida, where he successfully completed the welding program and became a certified welder. David began his career with Iron Workers Union 704 in July 2018. He worked for Ranstad at McKee Foods and Express Employment in 2021-2022. He later worked at Astec, Inc., in 2016 and 2021, where he developed his skills and gained valuable experience in his trade. He later ventured into travel welding with Ingalls Shipyard taking his talents and adventurous spirit to places such as Denver, Mississippi, and offshore rigs. David was never afraid to step outside of his comfort zone. He was restless in the best sense of the word—always curious, always exploring, and always searching for the next opportunity and the newest horizon to conquer. A Creative Spirit and a Dreamer David was more than a welder, he was a creator, an innovator, and a dreamer. He had a natural ability to look at something and imagine how it could be made better. His creativity was evident in the special welding helmets, equipment, and supplies he dreamed up and worked to develop. He wasn't content simply to follow what had already been done; he wanted to create something of his own. David had an entrepreneurial spirit and a mind full of ideas. He dreamed about doing more, becoming more, and experiencing more out of life. He believed there was always another possibility, another invention, another opportunity waiting on the horizon. That imagination and determination were uniquely David, and those who knew him will remember the way he dreamed boldly and believed there was always something greater ahead. David was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Linda and Frank Shropshire; uncles, Cordelara Jones and Jeremiah Kennemer; cousins, LaTorya Bibbs, LaDarrius Bibbs and DeWayne Evan's. And lastly his maternal great-grandparents, Charlie and Edna Graham. David leaves to cherish his memory his father, Eric “Sweet Pea” Shropshire; mother, DeNessa Smith; grandmother, Lillie Johnson; grandfather, Richard Jones (Gloria); older brother, Eric L. Shropshire; baby sister, Nadia S. Cartwright; loving aunts, Carisa Powell, Ronda Bibbs (Lynn), Kiamesha Moore, and Tomeka Walker; and his loving uncles, Frank Shropshire (Denise), Michael Shropshire (Sonya), LeBron Johnson, and DeWayne Kennemer. He also leaves behind a host of cousins, friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish his memory, his laughter, his creativity, his adventurous spirit, and the love he so freely gave. David’s life may have been far too short, but the mark he left on the hearts of those who loved him will never fade. His smile, his sense of humor, his giving heart, his creativity, and his dreams will live on through the people who knew him best. Rest peacefully, David. May the dreams you carried in your heart now find their fulfillment in eternity. David will lie-in-state on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel with Rev. Kendrick Hill as the Eulogist.
