Carolyn Blake

Carolyn Blake was born December 21, 1946, in Chattanooga TN. She attended Howard High School and graduated in 1964. Carolyn married William H. Blake, Sr., on July 17, 1965, they shared an unbreakable bond for 61 years. William and Carolyn treasured each other. William treated her like fine china, spoiling her with anything she needed and wanted. He supported her in all her spiritual endeavors and took great care of her, being right beside her until the end. Carolyn was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on October 28, 1973, and was a zealous and faithful witness of Jehovah for almost 53 years. She loved Jehovah with her whole heart and made it her career, for well over 27 years, as a full-time evangelizer, to teach others about his wonderful qualities and promises. Carolyn was sharing bible truths up to the last day she could speak, encouraging Howard to share some literature with a social worker who asked her what her hobbies were. Carolyn was a selfless, loving and most caring woman that had sharp wit, grace and a treasure trove of musical knowledge. Carolyn was also a devoted mother. She always made time for them and found clever ways to help them make good decisions. Watching her children grow to have the same strong faith as she did was the greatest joy of her life. She maintained an unwavering closeness with all three of her children. She and her daughter were more than mother & daughter; they were best friends. Her firstborn and youngest sons remained deeply connected to her, and she was their biggest support as they grew to spiritually grounded men. Carolyn and William also treasured spending time together and making memories through taking family trips and travel. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Rutland and Fay Pitchford; grandparents, Lucy Turner and Daisy Wilena Cook; and brother Terrence Brown. Carolyn left to cherish her memories her husband, William Blake, Sr.; children, Tracy (Carla) Blake, Sr., Jacquelyn (Kevin, Sr.) Harrison, both of Chattanooga, TN, and William Howard (Delisa) Blake, Jr., of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Tracy (Jalisa) Blake, Jr., of Chattanooga, TN, Cornelius Ray (Teghan) Harris, Jr., of Rossville, GA, Emerald (Zachary) Betsey, of Raleigh, NC, and Kevin Harrison, Jr., of Chattanooga, TN; brother, Jesse Martin of Sanford, NC; sister, Larytina (Paul) Brown Smith of Wilmington, DE; and other relatives and friends. She was especially close to her spiritual family, with some of her most precious and closest friends. We all ADORED Carolyn!!!!! A memorial service will be held for Carolyn on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home.
