Maudell Foster

We celebrate and honor the life of Maudell Foster, a woman who brought laughter, love, and light into the lives of everyone she met. Born on September 14, 1952, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late Willie Looney and Bertha Lee Looney, Maudell was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. Maudell was an industrious individual who dedicated herself to providing for her family and friends. She attended Riverside High School and her last occupation was at Don Produce and Cook Foods, where she supervised a team of individuals. After becoming disabled, Maudell transitioned into a fulltime caregiver role, fulfilling this position until her passing. As mother Maudell became a nurse, cook, and therapist, she assumed various roles and responsibilities. Maudell was consistently available to assist her family and others in any manner she could. Maudell was renowned for her unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She was a devoted family woman who cherished her husband and her children, and her love for her 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren was boundless. Maudell was a caring and loving friend who willingly offered assistance and financial support to those in need. She never encountered a stranger and consistently fostered a sense of belonging and love among her acquaintances. Her ability to create a room filled with laughter made her a truly beloved individual. Maudell's absence is deeply felt, and her memory will forever be cherished. Maudell, a beautiful and loving soul, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. She had accepted the Lord as her personal Savior as a young girl. She knew that being absent from the body was to be present with the Lord. She is reunited with her parents, Willie and Bertha Lee Looney; her siblings, Maxine Bell, Loretta Coker, and Davis Dewayne Looney, Sr.; and her nephews, David Dewayne Looney, Jr., Alex Freeman, and Victor Sebastian Bell, Sr. She departs to cherish all her cherished memories her beloved family, husband, Doug Foster, of Chattanooga; children, Yolanda Satterwhite of Chattanooga, David (Cassandra) Satterwhite of Atlanta, GA, Rosalind (Jayson) Williams of Chattanooga, Charlene Satterwhite of Chattanooga, and Peggy Galloway of Chattanooga; 11 beloved grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Sarah (Jerome) Matthews; sister-in-law, Sarah Looney; brother and sister-in-law, George (Carolyn) Bennett of Eugene, Oregon; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Maudell was considered a friend to all, but she was particularly close to her friend, Terrie High. She was a rock for her family, always ready to lend a hand or give a sympathetic ear. She was a jack-of-all-trades, and her unwavering support was priceless. No matter what obstacles her family hit, she had the wisdom and skills to find a way out. Her memory will live on through all the amazing memories she made with her loved ones, forever engraved in our hearts. Maudell will lie-in-state on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon in the chapel with Rev. Billy Ryan as Eulogist. Burial will be Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
